How Does It Work?
As the Account Owner, you’re in control of your Electronic Time Capsule account. You can:
- Create customized messages. Choose text, video, and/or voice formats!
- Update personal information, such as change of email address.
- Invite Writers to contribute for free, or remove Writers from the account.
- View a list of all messages and their release dates.
- View or delete any message in the time capsule.
- Set up automatic email notifications, so you and your Writers can be reminded to create messages.
- Personalize the home page.
- Save a back-up copy of each message on your home computer one time each year.
The Recipient and Writers can access the account, too, but they have limited control.
Recipients can:
- View and enjoy released messages.
- View a list of all messages and their release dates.
- Delete or save released messages.
- Receive immediate email notification of an unlocked time capsule.
- Update personal information.
Writers can:
- Create customized messages. Choose text, video and/or voice formats!
- View, modify or delete any message they created.
- Search for Electronic Time Capsule accounts of other friends and loved ones.
- Request an invitation to be a Writer for another Recipient.
- Update personal information, such as change of email address.
Create Messages

It’s a snap to create messages today that will be cherished in the future. Little details make a big impact!
- Give your message a special title or subject line.
- Select a layout style, and a theme or color palette. Choose from seasonal, holiday and other templates.
- Write your message with ease. Check spelling, and select font features (style, size and color).
- Attach pictures, video or voice files in a number of popular formats.
- Preview your message. You see what your loved ones will see!
- Choose the delivery date. It can be a specific day (for example, Sept. 1, 2036) or a period of time (five years from today).
Invite Writers

Account Owners can
- Invite any number of friends and family to be Writers on the account.
- Access all messages created for the Recipient.
- Accept or delete any messages created by Writers, or request that a Writer modify a specific message for Recipient under 18.
Writers can:
- Create customized messages. Choose text, video and/or voice formats!
- View, modify or delete only those messages that they create.
- Search for the Electronic Time Capsule accounts of other friends and loved ones.
- Request an invitation to be a Writer for an account.
- Contribute to more than one account, by invitation only.
